Grout haze makes your porcelain floor look bad, but the good news is that you can remove it yourself. Let’s check out the easiest and most effective ways to remove grout haze from tiles.

Just a Prop Tip: Wear hand gloves and a face mask while cleaning grout haze. It is recommended to test the cleaner at an inconspicuous place to avoid any streaks on the floor.

Diluted Vinegar Solution

Take some warm water in a bucket and add few drops of white vinegar (extra vinegar can make the solution stronger). Take a sponge and dip it into the solution and start scrubbing the grout.

After you are done with the first round, wipe the surface and repeat the process until the grout haze is removed.

Vinegar is mildly acidic, it removes grout haze quickly but a concentrated solution can discolor porcelain floors.https://www.youtube.com/embed/IFcPtwCLMC4

Grout Haze Cleaner

Spray some water on hazed tiles and pour the cleaner. Let it sit for 3 to 4 minutes, and then start scrubbing. You may need to repeat the process based on how stubborn grout haze is.

Don’t forget to check compatibility with your floor & read instructions on the packing before you start working.

Non-Gel Toothpaste

Toothpaste is an effective grout cleaner. Using non-gel toothpaste is an easy and fast way to remove grout haze from porcelain tiles.

Apply some toothpaste on the grout haze. Scrub the stains with an old toothbrush; wipe with a clean cloth to reveal a shining floor. Repeat if needed.https://www.youtube.com/embed/97Q3TkCW9Fc

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is acidic and must be used for stubborn grout stains. Pour a few drops of lemon juice and wait for 5-10 minutes. The acid in lemon juice will dissolve the stains; scrub for better results. Wipe the area with a clean cloth.

Tips for Removing Grout

  • Let the grout harden fully before cleaning. It takes 24-72 hours for the grout to dry completely. Cleaning wet grout may be easy, but it can affect your flooring.
  • Clean grout after 5-10 days of drying. You’ll need stronger cleaners to clean grout older than 10 days.
  • Epoxy-based grout gives maximum strength and durability. You would need a potent commercial cleaner to remove its haze.
  • Don’t use acidic cleaners like vinegar on porous stone and slate tiles. Use commercial cleaners specially designed for these floors.
